GermanyExecuJet has opened its refurbished fixed base operation at the Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) general aviation terminal in Germany.
The refurbishment of the general aviation terminal has been conducted by New GAT Berlin GmbH, an aviation service provider and joint venture between Luxaviation Group and local sightseeing and charter flight operator Air Service Berlin CFH GmbH. The project has delivered a fully functional facility, meeting all new 2023 European standards in the industry. An opening ceremony took place on 28 September.
ExecuJet saya that this milestone confirms its commitment to the German market, notably at the BER Berlin Brandenburg Airport which is the gateway to the German capital region, providing excellent connection for business jets. The newly redesigned GAT layout facilitates fast and efficient handling processes that meet the needs and requirements of private travellers, such as a high level of security and privacy. In the ExecuJet FBO the offices, crew as well as the passenger facilities have been renovated and modernised to ensure efficiency and comfort.
Joachim Krüger, who shares the function of CEO, New GAT Berlin with Frank Hellberg, CEO of Air Service Berlin, says: “We are extremely satisfied with the fruits of our investment in the new GAT, and we are thrilled to be working with Berlin Brandenburg Airport.” Krüger, who is also vice president northern Europe of Luxaviation Group adds: “Berlin Brandenburg Airport is key for ExecuJet, Luxaviation Group and New GAT Berlin, as Berlin's economy is continuously growing and Brandenburg is one of the most dynamic economic regions in Germany.”
The company BauWerke was commissioned with the general planning and project management of the GAT refurbishment. It was able to complete the project and open the expanded facility even before the originally planned date.
Planning and construction were largely carried out during ongoing operations and under increased safety requirements in close coordination with the airport company, the authorities involved and close timing of the individual trades. “Consistent planning and tendering as well as our "real-time" project management enabled us to meet not only the deadlines but also the cost targets,” explains Fritz Breitenthaler, managing director and shareholder of BauWerke.
Business aviation significantly contributes to the European trade, tourism, and regional development, with Germany in particular, as the sector adds almost 18 billion euros to the country's GDP and employs 83,000 people . Furthermore, business aviation also provides a substantial societal benefit by supporting medical flights, where between 50,000 and 70,000 were registered in Europe in 2022. In Germany, over 8% of all business aviation flights were conducted for medical reasons last year.
Brandenburg is one of the emerging regions in Germany and has one of the most modern air traffic hubs worldwide. The aviation industry boasts more than 130 companies with over 17,000 employees . In addition, Brandenburg is the number one conference location in Germany hosting 600 trade fairs and congresses as well as 1.8 million visitors annually.
The airport Berlin Brandenburg (BER) formally opened in November 2020 and succeeded the three commercial airports of Tempelhof, Tegel and Schönefeld.
ExecuJet today operates two FBOs in Germany, located at Munich International Airport (MUC) and Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). ExecuJet last month announced a newly agreed agency collaboration with Air bp to supply customers at the BER general aviation terminal with Jet- A1 fuel.
